“Adam Steignbaugh” is Cybersquatting Chance Trahan

December 17, 2012

Last night Adam Steinbaugh wrote a new post arguing against claims Chance had made about not being involved.

Chance responded with a post on his own blog. Screen shots after the jump, in case he decides to delete it.

TL;DR:  he accused “Adam Steignbaugh” Marc Randazza and “Ken Hat” of “Cybersquatting”

Adam Steignbaugh enticing Chance Trahan for the second time to unblock and unprotect his tweets so that it may give him another chance to use more direct info straight from the source in order to gain more stories about Chance Trahan defending himself publicly on Twitter against Adam Steignbaugh and Kenneth Hat against their false allegations and cyberbullying and last but certainly not least Cyber squatting on his name Chance Trahan. Cybersquatting is whenever someone compromises your public info and uses it against you to post blogs and rank their own credibility and at the same time deface you for something they don’t know for a fact and that was not kept as public info. By Adam trying to entice him to unprotect the
Chance Trahan @kataishinninja tweets on Twitter for us eof tfurther [sic] harassment and blatant remarks trying to entice Chance Trahan to give him otherwise illegally obtained info, which he has actually resorted to by enticement alone.  …

He has no right to mention my name in any of this, in fact they are all going to great extremes to cybersquat on my name Chance Trahan to publicly rank in search engine results for popular queries by posting falsified documents and misrepresenting me to defame my character. I chose to protect my tweets from those accounts he is getting this info from and still posting it. …

They like cybersquatting on my name Chance Trahan and every other site that I have ever made. He and the guys at MarcRandazza.com and TechDirt.com and whoever this guy is https://twitter.com/Raul15340965 and BullyVille.com have all been trying to raise their site ranks by cybersquatting on not only my name ChanceTrahan.com but also CraigBrittain.com and IsAnybodyDown.com. Now, whether I run that site or not, I was hired to help design and rank it in the Alexa site ranks. And I do know that they are indeed trying to boost their own names by cybersquatting on our common searches. They are even posting our old tweets to rank higher because of the amount of followers it gained over time. …

Now I could hold them liable for all this money and then take them to court over this cybersquatting as well

As I read that for the first time I kept hearing this in the back of my brain:

Chance, buddy, listen to me here, I am a lawyer after all.

Cybersquatting  “is registering, trafficking in, or using a domain name with bad faith intent to profit from the goodwill of a trademark belonging to someone else. The cybersquatter then offers to sell the domain to the person or company who owns a trademark contained within the name at an inflated price.”

Under the ACPA, a trademark owner may bring a cause of action against a domain name registrant who (1) has a bad faith intent to profit from the mark and (2) registers, traffics in, or uses a domain name that is (a) identical or confusingly similar to a distinctive mark, (b) identical or confusingly similar to or dilutive of a famous mark

The ACPA does not prevent the fair use of trademarks or any use protected by the First Amendment, which includes gripe sites

If you don’t believe me, Chance, you should talk to my buddy Satirical Chas who just settled with the real Charles Carreon, who claimed that the satire site was cybersquatting his trademark (and unlike you, Carreon actually has a trademark on his name). And as much as you hate him, perhaps you should also have a talk with Marc Randazza, who was just granted control over legitimate cybersquatting pages created by Crystal Cox

Also why say this in your post

Please do not send a copy to these users, as they will just try and use it against me.

Then tweet the link to Ken and Adam?

Trahan 98

…I’m at a complete loss here.

And another thing. You claim

He and the guys at MarcRandazza.com and TechDirt.com and whoever this guy is https://twitter.com/Raul15340965 and BullyVille.com have all been trying to raise their site ranks by cybersquatting on not only my name ChanceTrahan.com but also CraigBrittain.com and IsAnybodyDown.com…And I do know that they are indeed trying to boost their own names by cybersquatting on our common searches. They are even posting our old tweets to rank higher because of the amount of followers it gained over time.

First off, those “old tweets” they post, are just screen caps of your twitter before you cleared it out. How are those images supposed to raise their ranks for your search terms? Also, long before you, Craig, or IAD were even a blip on the radar all of those sites (except maybe Raul15340965), they had Alexa rankings you can only dream about. So what makes you think that talking about your crappy websites would up their ranking? If anything having these decently read sites talk about you probably helped YOUR rankings.

Also, stop writing your posts in inconsistent 3rd person with obvious crappy (and by that I mean they don’t work) SEO tactics, they are difficult to read and do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to your search ranking. So stop taking the advice of the SEO “experts” who comment spam your posts.

You are beyond my help and at this point all I can say is you are lucky #knightsec is temporarily distracted by WBC because otherwise you would be in a world of hurt right now.
